Lakehead launches new tourism micro-credential, offers French version through Boréal

Lakehead University has launched a new tourism micro-credential in order to support tourism industry professionals who work for any organization with a mandate to foster growth in the industry. The Ontario Professional Tourism Industry Specialist (OPTIS) and the Northern Ontario Professional Tourism Industry Specialist (NOPTIS) micro-credentials are offered online, province-wide. OPTIS consists of six eight-hour modules focused on essential elements of the tourism industry, such as product development and risk and liability, and students interested in the NOPTIS micro-credential can complete a seventh module focused on the geographic region of Northern Ontario. The micro-credentials will also be available in French through Collège Boréal in 2023. Lakehead (1)| Lakehead (2) Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
