Lakehead University has been designated an Innovation and Economic Prosperity (IEP) University by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities. The IEP designation recognizes universities that partner with public and private organizations on initiatives that support economic development. “Economic development is a major pillar of the work of universities,” said APLU President Mark Becker. “From talent development to pathbreaking research to entrepreneurship and beyond, institutions have a central role to play in economic development.” Lakehead is reportedly the second Canadian university to receive this designation.
