A Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc land blessing guided by Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Elder Diena Jules was held on Wednesday at Thompson Rivers University at the site of the future Indigenous Education Centre. The centre will centralize Indigenous services, such as the Office of Indigenous Education, Qelmúcw student recruiters, and the Indigenous Co-op and Internship Program. It will also be a space where students, faculty, and staff can access support and services. “It will be a place for our Indigenous students, faculty and staff to come together and meet, and for us to share resources with them,” said TRU office of Indigenous education executive director Tina Matthew. The centre is currently in its planning phase with construction anticipated to begin shortly. TRU Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
