CBC reports that Laurentian University will be releasing three million documents that may illuminate the institution’s insolvency to the Government of Ontario. Interim board chair Jeff Bangs made a presentation to the standing committee on public accounts that showed a “change in tone” over the disclosure of the records. The records include financial statements and emails between banks and Laurentian’s senior administrators. “This has given me a window of optimism that I haven’t had ever in this file,” said Sudbury MPP France Gélinas. “We’re getting really, really close to having everything we need to be able to do our work and answer the questions that everybody in Sudbury wants answers to.” Gélinas estimates that a report will be ready within two months.
