Maritime students struggle to make ends meet due to rising inflation

Maritime students are struggling to make ends meet as they navigate increased costs, reports Jesse Thomas for CBC. Thomas writes that inflation in the Maritimes exceeded the national average in June, and students are struggling with the resulting increased costs. The Saint Mary’s University Student Association says that many students are working two or three jobs and may be considering postponing their education. SMU’s Community Food Room has also seen increased use and is struggling to keep its shelves filled. SMU Students’ Association VP of Advocacy Kyle Cook called for needs-based government or university funding to support students. “At the moment, students are in dire need,” said Cook.
