The Government of Manitoba has announced a $5.2M investment into the Skills Development Program (SDP) and the Indigenous Adult Health Internship Program (IAHIP) to address staffing shortages in the health-care sector. SDP provides career counselling and financial supports to Manitobans seeking postsecondary education, and will use the provincial funding to support students interested in working in areas such as health-care aide, health unit clerk, and medical office assistant. IAHIP is a collaborative initiative in which Indigenous community members take part in pre-employment training programs, job-shadowing opportunities, and more to explore high demand occupations. The funding will increase support for students in this program. MB Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
