McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences has announced that it has moved the oversight of equity, diversity and inclusion into the VP-Dean’s Office. EDI will be led by the Vice-Dean, Education and Community Engagement as part of a new Community Engagement and Belonging hub. In a statement, McGill stated that the changes are intended to “reorganize the oversight of its EDI work to a higher level of accountability under the direct purview of the Office of the Dean of Medicine.” CTV News reports that some staff raised concerns about the changes, especially given the anti-EDI sentiment south of the border.
