Students and faculty at Memorial University are calling for immediate action from the university and provincial government to save the Student Wellness and Counselling Centre (SWCC). and note that the centre has provided students with training opportunities and access to mental health services for 20 years, during which time SWCC has maintained full accreditation from the Canadian Psychological Association. However, the university faculty association asserts that years of staffing cuts have left the SWCC residency program at “the point of imminent collapse,” which also places the centre’s accreditation at risk.
