Missing TRU international student’s body recovered from river

The body of a Thompson Rivers University international student has been recovered by police after an extensive search, reports Castanet. During a game of volleyball with other international students, Jatin Garg reportedly entered the Thompson River to retrieve the ball and was swept away by the undercurrent. TRU has offered its support to Garg’s family and friends and is helping repatriate his body to India. “We view that as the least we can do[. T]he parents trusted us, sent a student to us, and this is the worst nightmare a parent can have,” said TRU VP International Baihua Chadwick. “We can’t bring their children back to life, but we can lessen their burden through this kind of support.”
