Mohawk, Ontario Shipyards, Hanwha Ocean sign letter of intent on shipbuilding collaboration

Mohawk College, Ontario Shipyards, and Korean company Hanwha Ocean have signed a letter of intent to pursue a collaboration on the front of shipbuilding. The three partners will reportedly establish a shipbuilding workforce development hub in Ontario. Over the next 10 to 15 years, the hub will train workers in key professions related to shipyard expansion and modernization, such as welding, fabrication, and marine machinery. According to Business Korea, the partners also plan to jointly identify research projects.
