NIC, partners develop, launch Seafood Processing Training Program

North Island College has developed and launched a Seafood Processing Training Program. The program was developed in partnership with the City of Port Alberni, Port Alberni Port Authority, and the Alberni Clayoquot Regional District in order to address the skilled labour shortage in Port Alberni. The eight-week program trains students in processing finfish and shellfish and connects them with local employers. The new program will also build capacity for initiatives dedicated to addressing local food security issues.
