Northern Lakes launches Child and Youth Care Diploma

News

Northern Lakes will launch a Child and Youth Care Diploma program this September. The program will equip learners with the skills they need to work effectively with children and youth, as well as their families and communities. It covers topics such as mental health, trauma-informed care, and ethical practice and includes three practicums to offer students hands-on experience. The program takes two years to complete and is available through distance learning. “Graduates will have developed and honed their practical skills and will be ready to go directly into practice and become contributing members of a team,” said Northern Lakes Dean of Health, Human Services & University Studies Dr Michelle Mitchell. “This will contribute to building needed capacity in the sector of mental health specifically focused on children and youth.”
