The Atlantic Academic Union, which represents over 1,000 faculty and staff from the Nova Scotia Community College, has filed for conciliation. Negotiations between the college leadership and the union have reportedly been ongoing for six months, and union filed for conciliation last Friday after a final meeting with college leadership. “Union members are dealing with greater workplace and classroom challenges without the necessary tools, time or college support to do their jobs safely and effectively,” said Atlantic Academic Union President Barbara Gillis in a release, noting that there is also a growing number of students with mental health and learning challenges.
