Okanagan College Provost Samantha Lenci spoke to Castanet about how the college is working to adapt to its “new normal” and look to the future, following changes to international study permit rules in 2024. Lenci said that the college is working to better understand the new international landscape and navigate the changes and declining enrolment in the domestic market. “Students want different programs. Students don’t necessarily think, ‘OK, as soon as I’m done high school, I’m going into postsecondary’,” she said, pointing to possibilities like upgrading or retraining programs for workers. Lenci concluded by crediting those working at the college for their work adapting to the changing situation.
