Okanagan College students have engaged in a “solidarity walkout,” stating that they have not been treated with respect by the institution. According to a letter from the Okanagan College Students’ Union (OCSU), the main reasons for the walkout include the recent 8.6% tuition hike for international students, the replacement of an affordable student cafeteria with an expensive ‘market,’ failure to include students in decision-making processes, and refusal to support students in calling for more provincial funding for postsecondary institutions. The letter called on Okanagan to address these issues and treat students as partners in improving postsecondary education. Those attending the walkout were asked to sign this letter in support of student demands. Global News| Vernon Morning Star Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
