Postsecondary institutions across Canada recently celebrated Ocean Week and World Ocean Day with events and initiatives. Some institutions hosted talks: Camosun College hosted a talk on Canadian Antarctic research and climate science, and Dalhousie University hosted a talk on whale safety measures. At St Francis Xavier University, students helped to lead activities for an event hosted by the Whale Sanctuary Project. This event included educational programs, beach cleanups, and an ocean trivia night. Mount Saint Vincent University students and staff—including MSVU President Dr Joël Dickinson—also engaged in a coastal cleanup alongside a crew from Coastal Action. Meanwhile, at Toronto Metropolitan University, students, faculty, and staff created a mural honouring marine and freshwater environments.
