Postsecondary institutions across Canada are planning to celebrate Pi Day on March 14th (3.14). In addition to serving pie, several institutions will host games and events. These include a mathematical culture-themed Pi Day Game Show at Concordia University, free games and prizes at Fanshawe College, and pi memory and trivia challenges at Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology. Université du Québec à Montréal is hosting a Pi-themed talk and interactive experiments, while the University of Waterloo is giving away free pies. At Camosun College, faculty members will challenge students with a math problem before racing to eat a piece of pie baked by Culinary Arts students. “Culinary arts students have come up with a mathematically sound recipe for some delicious pie,” said Camosun Chair, Culinary Arts Chef David Lang.
