Postsecondary institutions respond to spread of respiratory illness with updated masking recommendations

In the wake of increasing concerns about respiratory illnesses, several postsecondary institutions have issued statements strongly recommending the use of masks in campus buildings. The University of Windsor is requiring mask indoors where physical distancing is not possible and is strongly recommending mask use at all times indoors. CBC and CTV News report that the University of Ottawa, Saint Paul University, Carleton University, Nipissing University, and Canadore College are also strongly recommending mask use when indoors on campus. Nipissing and Canadore are additionally offering COVID-19 vaccination clinics and providing students with masks. The Association of Academic Staff at the University of Alberta has requested that an indoor mask mandate be reinstated due to the spread of respiratory illnesses.
