The Government of Quebec has said that it will be tightening private college regulations in response to the situation created by the three colleges – M College, CCSQ College and CDE College – that filed for creditor protection in January. CBC reports that while the colleges were purchased by Cestar International Education Group, allowing many students to resume their studies, students who are no longer interested in studying at the institutions are uncertain if they will get their money back. QC Minister of Higher Education Danielle McCann stated that the ministry is planning to implement measures “to ensure that this type of situation never occurs again.” QC will implement a variety of measures, including an evaluation of the process “for issuing, renewing or modifying permits for private colleges.” CBC Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
