SFU moves to become living wage employer

Simon Fraser University has declared its intent to become a formally certified living wage employer. The SFU Board of Governors has approved the move to seek living wage certification through Living Wage for Families BC. SFU is establishing a working group to support the certification process and set down future expectations with contract service providers. “We recognize that there are gaps and inequities among some of the workers at our university and it is important that we ensure that benefits and wages reflect the true costs of living in our community,” said SFU President Joy Johnson. SFU says that it is the first Canadian public university to announce its intent to acquire living wage certification. SFU Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
