Simon Fraser University’s SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies and the University of California Los Angeles’s Center for the Study of Hellenic Culture have received a donation of over $1.2M from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. The donation supports a three-year pilot project to enhance academic mobility between the two institutions and bridge the gap dividing academics and cultural producers from Greece and the West Coast. The program will provide opportunities for residencies at the two institutions, engage Greek writers and performers through events and programs in both cities, and bring faculty and students to Greece to develop their research skills. “The present collaboration allows us to meet across borders and continents and create community, both within the university and beyond,” said SFU SNF Centre director Dimitris Krallis.
