Statistics Canada has released the initial results of the Full-time University and College Academic Staff System for 2025/26, which includes data from 78 of 109 public degree-granting institutions. The release includes counts and salary data for full-time teaching staff at these universities. An analysis of the data by CTV News revealed that on the highest end, median salaries at three postsecondary institutions reached nearly $200K, with notable year-over-year salary increases at the University of Guelph, Carleton University, and the University of Ottawa. They note that the number of staff has stayed relatively flat across most institutions since 2015/2016, with March job data suggesting that the education sector recently shrunk.
