TMU-linked off-campus event disrupted, five arrested

Five individuals were arrested after an off-campus event hosted by the Toronto Metropolitan University chapter of Students Supporting Israel was disrupted by protesters. CBC reports that protesters forced entry into the venue, damaging property and injuring at least one person. Those arrested were charged with offences including forcible entry, unlawful assembly, and obstruction and assault of a peace officer. “TMU condemns any acts of aggression, intimidation or violence and our thoughts are with any students who may have been injured during the incident,” read a statement from TMU. According to the National Post, TMU is reportedly reviewing its policies, and affected students say the incident has raised broader concerns about campus safety and equal treatment.
