The University College of the North and NORCAT are partnering to deliver a Mining Readiness Training program in Manitoba. The program will launch in September 2024 in Sagkeeng First Nation near Lac du Bonnet; subsequent cohorts will be delivered in various locations across the province. Graduates of the program will receive a dual certificate of completion from UCN and NORCAT. “This program helps to ensure that Indigenous and Manitobans have opportunities to work in mining right here at home,” said UCN President Doug Lauvstad. The program has received over $1.2M in funding from Prairies Economic Delivery Canada.
