The University of Northern British Columbia has received $1M over two years from Indigenous Services Canada for the Hearts-based Education and Anticolonial Learning (HEAL) healthcare project. The HEAL project focuses on improving health outcomes for Indigenous people by providing training and education to healthcare students and professionals on how to end racism and discrimination. HEAL project also provides training on topics such as anti-Indigenous racism, cultural safety, and anti-colonial approaches to healthcare. “[T]ransformational change … requires shifts in both feelings and thoughts,” said UNBC Professor Dr Sarah de Leeuw. “We’re excited to put arts and humanities to work in the service of cultural humility and anti-oppression.” Energetic City| Canada Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
