Universities Canada appeared before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration to address the need to attract qualified international talent to strengthen the economy. In particular, Universities Canada called for three actions from the federal government: Improved visa predictability and policy stability to rebuild confidence in Canada; support for international partnerships that strengthen research, trade, and opportunities for Canadians; and the creation of a coordinated International Higher Education Talent, Research, and Innovation Strategy. “Universities are ready to work with government to develop Canadian talent and help businesses grow,” stated the organization.
