UOttawa researchers receive $2.7M LEGO Foundation grant for play-based learning network

Researchers at the University of Ottawa have received a $2.7M LEGO Foundation grant to set up a network for Canadian schools that use play-based learning and teaching to support student achievement and well-being. Eight professors from UOttawa’s Chenine research and development group will collaborate with education professionals, school systems, and civil society organizations to integrate and expand play-based learning into the mainstream in both English and French language systems beyond very young age groups. “[This project is] an opportunity to take play seriously,” said Andy Hargreaves, visiting professor at UOttawa and Director of Chenine.
