The Université du Québec à Montréal has completed a $5.8M overhaul on the heating and air conditioning systems in its Centre sportif, which will make the system far more sustainable. The centre’s thermal boilers were replaced by electric aerothermal heat pumps, ventilation units have been moved inside to increase their lifespan, the mechanical room has been optimized, light fixtures have been replaced with LED fixtures, and the new heating and A/C systems are able to adjust automatically for efficiency and comfort. The overhaul is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 200 tonnes a year. UQAM Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
