Western launches minor in Black Studies

Western University’s Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies has launched a minor in Black Studies. The minor is open to all Western students. The minor was developed by the faculties of Arts and Humanities, Social Science, and Information and Media Studies and covers topics such as Black history, culture, and heritage from local, national, and global perspectives. “Students who enrol in Black Studies courses will not only learn more about what it means to be Black in our society but will also be well-positioned for careers in a variety of sectors tackling issues of equity, diversity and inclusion,” said Western AVP, EDI Opiyo Oloya.
