Postsecondary institutions are taking a variety of measures to address COVID-19 as students return to campus, reports Jessica Wong for CBC. While institutions such as Western University and Huron University College have mandated COVID-19 booster vaccines, others such as Ontario Tech University and the University of Manitoba are bringing back indoor masking or taking approaches that align with general provincial messaging. While Ontario Tech University is mandating masks for the Fall semester, Durham College, which shares campus space with Ontario Tech, has paused its masking policy. As a result, Wong writes that there is a “patchwork” of different policies seen in different cities and provinces. Some postsecondary institutions in Saskatchewan will not be requiring proof of vaccination or masking, but are encouraging students to stay up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccines and to stay home when sick.
