Women’s hockey program at Cegep de Saint-Laurent suspended

Cegep de Saint-Laurent has suspended its women’s hockey program due to difficulties recruiting players and a “lack of stability in the coaching position,” reports CBC. Former coach Alexandria D’Onoforio claims that Saint-Laurent’s athletic director Hugo Lamoureux fired her, stating that he wanted a male head coach for the team instead. Assistant coach Léa McIntyre was also fired, and other women in assistant coaching roles resigned shortly thereafter. Players are reportedly unsure of what to do next, as other teams are already full. CBC| Journal de Montréal Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
