YorkU, TDSB partner on Raise the Black Bar program

York University’s Osgoode Hall Law Society and the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) have partnered on a program that will support Black high school students who are interested in pursuing a legal education. The Raise the Black Bar (RTBB) program is open to all Black secondary students at TDSB. It will teach students about career opportunities in law, pathways to law school, and financial aid opportunities. RTBB will also include a mentorship element to support students in navigating barriers, networking, and learning about the field. “We believe this is the first program of its kind focusing specifically on the needs of Black high school students,” said Black Law Students’ Association Osgoode Chapter President Bunisha Samuels. “I’m optimistic that Raise the Black Bar is going to help create a whole new generation of Black law students and Black lawyers.” YorkU Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
