The Government of Canada Tri-Council and France’s national research agency have announced the distribution of $3.29M in funding for research related to artificial intelligence. The funding will be distributed through NSERC, SSHRC, and CIHR (in collaboration with IVADO) to 10 collaborative research projects that will be conducted by Canadian and French university researchers. These projects will focus on generative AI and the safety and security of embedded AI. Canadian institutions receiving funding include Dalhousie University, McGill University, Université de Montréal, the University of Alberta, the University of Calgary, the University of Regina, the University of Toronto, and Western University.
