The Government of Canada announced an $8M investment in student housing near Université de Montréal’s MIL campus this week. The UTILE Hutchison housing project will create 187 rental homes for students. The investment builds on $13.8M in loan funding from the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ for the acquisition and development of the land. Canada Parliamentary Secretary Rachel Bendayan explained that “students are an essential part of what makes Montréal such a vibrant and dynamic city, and they deserve housing that is affordable and close to where they study.”
