York University has reportedly acknowledged that moving Glendon College to the university’s Keele campus could result in the dilution of its Francophone community, according to a copy of a proposal obtained by Radio Canada. The proposal names the marginalization of Francophone students as a legitimate concern that will require intentional efforts to address. However, it also reiterates that Glendon College’s enrolment trends make the status quo financially unsustainable, and that a move to Keele would allow for increased bilingual programming and lower operating costs. The proposal will be discussed by the Glendon Faculty Council later this month.
