Lakeland College will be expanding and modernizing its agricultural training, thanks to a more than $7M investment from the Government of Alberta. The investment will support upgrades and the expansion of the college’s beef yard, which holds a growing cow population, as well as the relocation and upgrading of Vermilion campus’s horse pens. Lakeland President Dr Alice Wainwright-Stewart called AB’s support “instrumental” in improving the college’s student-managed farm lab, adding that the investments will provide students with “the skills, knowledge and confidence to lead the future of agriculture while supporting innovation and growth across Alberta’s ag sector.” Construction on the projects is expected to begin in July, finishing in 2028.
