Saint Paul University has created the Institute for Prevention of Conflicts and Violent Extremism (IPCVE), an interdisciplinary institute focused on research, professional training, and evidence-based practices. The institute’s aim is to foster knowledge creation and mobilization to strengthen social cohesion and public safety. It will draw from the university’s research community and will also be supported by a postdoctoral fellow. “Through interdisciplinary collaboration, we aim to better understand the roots of radicalization and equip professionals and communities with the skills needed to prevent violent extremism, support early disengagement, and intervene effectively when violence arises,” said IPCVE Co-Director Dr Buuma Maisha.
