Statistics Canada has released the results of the 2024/2025 Financial Information of Universities Survey across four tables. University revenues have increased year over year from $52B in 2023/2024 to $55B in 2024/2025. About 57% of university revenues came from private revenue sources such as student fees; non-government grants and contracts, donations, and bequests; and investments; while the remaining 43% came from government revenues. Meanwhile, university expenditures have increased from nearly $49B to nearly $52B in 2024/2025. The majority of expenditures come from operating expenses (91%), especially compensation, while 9% come from capital expenditures.
