The University of British Columbia recently signed a research and development memorandum of understanding with HD Hyundai’s shipbuilding arm, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering. Under the agreement, the two will work together on joint research, digital twin simulation, autonomous navigation systems, and naval vessel structures. They will also collaborate on eco-friendly materials for commercial and naval vessels. “By combining our shipbuilding expertise with UBC’s research capabilities, we aim to further advance Korea’s shipbuilding and defense technologies,” said HD Korea Future Technology Institute head Chang Kwang-pil.
