The University of Calgary and the University of Alberta have secured federal funding from PrairiesCan to boost Alberta’s ability to bring new quantum products to market. UCalgary will receive $4.1M for its Quantum City initiative, which aims to develop infrastructure and acquire specialized equipment to support companies working on industrial quantum applications. UAlberta will receive $2.2M to establish a quantum hardware innovation hub that provides industry with access to technical expertise and equipment for prototyping and manufacturing quantum technologies. “Quantum technologies are at the forefront of innovation, and this federal support will empower Alberta’s researchers to unlock its transformative potential and foster an environment of discovery,” said UAlberta Director, Innovation & Partnerships David Chang.
